DVA Aid for Mental Health Issues

One in five Australians suffering from mental health problems. With the launch of a new website, the DVA aim to combat this problem in veterans and the defence forces. At Ease, is an initiative geared towards raising awareness and tackling the issue of mental health problems in serving Defence Force members and veterans. Adapting to life post-conflict or dealing with the horrors seen during a tour of duty can effect mental health. Due to their strict military training, this may have been seen as a sign of weakness in the past. With the launch of www.at-ease.dva.gov.au, many veterans, service men and woman, and their families, can have mental health issues identified early, treated and managed. Through the online resources, you can help yourself, or someone you know, recognise the signs of mental health problems, or just learn a few tactics to keep yourself balanced. Available online are: which have been developed for health providers and staff who work with veterans and defence force clients.
